Olympic Logos, Part 3

Previously, I talked about 80s and 90s Olympic logos and how the main goal of the Olympics is to unite athletes and nations together around the world in a time of peaceful competition.
The 2000s got off to a great start. The layout became more standardized—city logo on top, city name/year in the middle and the rings at the bottom. That is, until London 2012, and the following Sochi 2014 it isn’t looking any better. It seems that the head honchos over at the Olympics round table decided to aim the Olympics into a new direction, but I’m not quite sure it’s working.
Like the 80s and 90s, here is a rough idea of how I might have suggested unifying them:

Note how the London and Sochi logos are unable to fit this layout.
