Yes We Can...Use Design

Design We Can Believe In

In 2008, the United States was in disarray. The real estate bubble burst, the stock markets plummeted and critics said we were nearing a second Great Depression – all in the midst of a presidential election.

Obama understood that Americans sought a new President that was stable, could organize the scattered state of our government and, most importantly, could give us hope. His campaign materials expressed exactly that message. He clearly understood the state we were in and the power of design. Election marketing materials have ever been so memorable as were in the Obama campaign. From his consistent use of typeface, color and brand; his conceptual “O” logo; his tagline of, “Change We Can Believe In,” it was all so well organized and thought out.

Who could resist? Obama’s signage was professional. It was so good that rival candidates started copying his style. After all, imitation is the best form of flattery, right?
